About the project
In 2016, Levi9 embarked on a transformative journey with Essent to overhaul their B2B platform, Unity, a cumbersome Java legacy system with over 1 million lines of code. Transitioning to a modern, cloud-based microservices architecture on AWS with Kubernetes, Unity is now a paragon of innovation featuring mature DevOps processes and comprehensive test automation. This transformation has significantly lowered costs, improved flexibility, and boosted system reliability, enabling product owners to deliver on their promises with greater efficiency and reduced technical debt.
Results
- Agile and DevOps integration boosted delivery output and engineering efficiency Development teams are fully aware of how the system behaves in production. Pipelines and infrastructure are automated to reduce human errors in the process.
- Moving gradually from a monolithic to microservices architecture significantly reduced the development time of epics.
- Migrating from on-premise to Kubernetes on AWS reduced costs, and increased flexibility and scalability. Microservices can be deployed without downtime.
